Fresh 102.7 Artist Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

Over the course of one year, 18-year-old singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has broken records and taken Country music to new places. The CMA Horizon Award Winner and 2008 GRAMMY Best New Artist nominee’s self-titled, debut album on Big Machine Records has gone Double-Platinum and has spent more than 10 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and consistently ranks in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart. In fact, Taylor Swift spent more weeks at the top of the country sales chart last year than any other release. Taylor recently became the first female solo artist in country music history to write or co-write every song on a double-platinum-selling debut album. She is also the youngest person ever to single-handedly write and sing a #1 country single entirely on her own. The CMT 2007 Breakthrough Video of the Year Award winner is also the Nashville Songwriters Association International’s 2007 Songwriter / Artist of the Year. Her self-penned 3rd single “Our Song,” spent 6 consecutive weeks at #1 atop Billboard’s Country Singles Chart, joining Taylor with Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, and Kitty Wells, outpaced only by Connie Smith who holds the record at 8 weeks. Taylor’s single, “Teardrops On My Guitar,” which reached #2 on the country charts, is currently in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 Chart.

With more than 35 million song streams on her MySpace page, Taylor is consistently the site’s #1 Country artist, and she is considered to be the first bonafide country star of the MySpace generation. iTunes lauded Taylor as their Best New Artist of 2007 and AOL Music named her their Hottest Female Country Artist of 2007. Dubbed “Country’s Teen Queen” by People magazine, Taylor was lauded by the Los Angeles Times as “One to Watch in 2007,” recognized as a “Young Up-and-Comer” by Daily Variety, and featured in Blender magazine’s 2007 “Hot Report” issue. She has appeared on America’s Got Talent, the Academy of Country Music Awards, the CMA Awards, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Christmas at Rockefeller Center, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Live with Regis & Kelly, The Ellen DeGeneres show, CNN, E!, Fox & Friends, CMT Music Awards, Grand Ole Opry Live , GAC Short Cuts and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2007. She has been featured in People, Us Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, Blender, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Seventeen, CosmoGirl, Country Weekly, Pollstar and has graced the cover of Justine magazine. She has toured with Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Brad Paisley, and Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, bringing her live show to over one million fans in 2007.
